Exposure to hazardous chemicals in consumer products poses significant risks to personal health and the environment, and the combined effects may be negative even if each individual exposure is low. This necessitates informed and effective policies for risk reduction.
Sustainability of seaweed supply and price dynamics in the Chinese hydrocolloid industry

The non-food segment of the Chinese seaweed market, which is crucial for developing the hydrocolloid industry, relies heavily on the seaweed supply from Chile, Peru, and, to a much lesser extent, Indonesia, in addition to domestic production. In this paper we investigate the degree of market integration between seaweed from these countries. We find that the market is highly integrated as the Law of One Price holds, suggesting a global market. Furthermore, the import price from Chile and Indonesia follows the lead of the import price from Peru.

The department of Caquetá in the Colombian Amazon plays a crucial role in addressing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from food systems, primarily stemming from land use changes, such as the conversion of forests into pastures, and agricultural practices. Despite 72% of the department still being covered by forests, participatory research in two municipalities, Montañita and Belén de los Andaquíes, reveals a diverse agrifood landscape, focusing on cocoa and livestock.
