EfD-CA senior researcher Roger Madrigal participates in IWRA World Water Congress 2015 and the ICARUS IV Global Meeting

 EfD-CA researcher Roger Madrigal will participate as speaker in the XVth IWRA World Water Congress as well as in the ICARUS IV Global Meeting. Dr. Madrigal´s research work entitled “Adaptive capacity, drought and the performance of community-based drinking water organizations in Costa Rica and Nicaragua “ will be presented in both events.

The Initiative on Climate Adaptation Research and Understanding through the Social Sciences (ICARUS) Fourth Global Meeting will be held at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign from the 7th to the 9th of May.  The XVth IWRA World Water Congress will be held at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) in Scotland from May 25th to the 29th.

Dr. Madrigal´s research work for the AC3 Project entitled “Adaptive capacity, drought and the performance of community-based drinking water organizations in Costa Rica and Nicaragua “  will be present on this year’s interlinked climate-change themes: Causes of Vulnerability and Livelihoods of the Poor in the ICARUS Fourth Global Meeting  with 40 participants from around the world. 

The same paper will be part of the International Development Research Centre´s (IDRC) special session: Climate Change and Water in Developing Countries in the IWRA World Water Congress.

Both events will provide a platform for open discussions and debates among scientists, practitioners and policy makers from both developed and developing countries and from different disciplines and sectors  to share ideas, evidence and practical solutions on questions of poverty, food security, social-ecological resilience, effective governance, human rights, indigenous knowledge, sustainable natural resource development and climate change and to  explore this variables as a resource for economic, social and environmental development.
