Our vision is to be a pioneering hub for quality training in environmental economics and policy, policy-led research, strategic policy engagement, and community outreach, catalyzing transformative solutions for environmental conservation and management, sustainable development, and climate resilience, leading towards a greener, more prosperous future.

Mission

The mission of the Environment for Development Center is to leverage policy engagement, policy-led research, graduate training, interdisciplinary collaboration, and community engagement and outreach to address pressing environmental challenges and promote sustainable development in Rwanda.

Affiliation

EfD Rwanda is hosted by the Center for Research in Environmental Economics, Sustainability and Policy (CREESP) in the College of Business and Economics (CBE) at the University of Rwanda. It was built on existing collaboration with the University of Gothenburg. The center is located in Kigali to facilitate close interaction with government institutions.
