Villegas Palacio, Clara Inés
Clara Inés Villegas is Professor at the Geosciences and Environment Department, Engineering Faculty at Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Medellín and she is also Senior Research Fellow of EfD Colombia. She holds a PhD in Economics from University of Gothenburg (2010).
Her research interests are policy instruments, technology adoption, and economic valuation. Her research experience focusses on the study of policy instruments for pollution control. She has also made research on the effects of different regulatory options on technology adoption and cooperation problems in social dilemmas using experimental and behavioral economics. Lately she has been working on modelling Socio-Ecological systems and their vulnerability to loss or degradation of ecosystem services.
Since 2018 she has supervised 10 MSc students (all women) and 5 PhD students (4 women)
Her research has been funded mainly by the Colombian Ministry of Science and Technology. She has also received some funding by the interaction with researchers from CIRAD (France) and Conacyt (México)
She has had policy interactions with officials from Medellin's local government
