Mary Karumba is an Economist with the State Department of Economic Planning and Statistics of the Government of Kenya. She is desk officer for Energy and Agricultural Sectors. She holds a Bachelors and MA degrees in Economics from Kenyatta University (Nairobi) and a Doctorate Degree in Economics from the University of Cape Town, South Africa where she was attached to the Environmental Policy Research Unit (EPRU). Mary has previously worked in energy programs at the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis as a policy analyst handling infrastructure sector. Her research interests is rural electrification, clean energy and development with a bias towards rural energy transitions.
