Jin, Yana
Dr Yana Jin was a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow at the College of William & Mary working in the fields of Environmental Economics and Public Policy. Starting from fall 2020, Yana joins the Office of the Chief Economist at Environmental Defense Fund in New York City. Yana holds a Ph.D. in environmental economics, B.A. in economics and B.S. in biology, all from Peking University, the top university in China. Her research is at the intersection of energy, climate and health: understanding the health and economic impacts from fossil fuel induced air pollution, and identifying cost effective energy strategies that co-benefit climate and health. To make her research relevant with near term policy, she emphasizes the understanding of context. Combining results on efficiency and distributional impacts with the local political economy dynamics, her research informs policies in the age of decentralized climate and environmental action.
