Juliana Helo Sarmiento is an Assistant Professor at the Economics Department at Universidad de los Andes, Bogotá, Colombia, and a Research Associate of EfD Colombia. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California Santa Barbara (2020).
Her research interests lie at the intersection between environmental and development economics. She studies the effect of temperature shocks on several health outcomes, including mortality, morbidity and children's anthropometrics.
She has been mentor (advisor) of a graduate student at Universidad EAFIT.
She organized the launch of the Lancet Countdown 2021 Global Report in Colombia, which took place on November 2021 and hosted by Universidad de los Andes. She is participating in the Lancet Countdown Southamerica Initiative.
