Onyenekwe, Chinasa Sylvia
Chinasa Sylvia Onyenekwe is a Research Fellow at the Resource and Environmental Policy Research Centre (REPRC), Environment for Development (EfD) Nigeria, University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN), and a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Agricultural Economics at UNN. She holds a PhD in Applied Agricultural Economics and Policy from the University of Ghana and has over 15 years of experience in teaching, research, and policy engagement in resource and environmental economics, agricultural development, climate change, food security, gender, and rural development. Dr. Onyenekwe has published widely in reputable international and national journals and has presented papers at several local and international conferences, including conferences organized by Environment for Development (EfD), the International Association of Agricultural Economists (IAAE), and the International Food and Agribusiness Management Association (IFAMA). She currently serves as Acting Head of the Department of Agricultural Economics at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and is actively involved in academic mentorship, postgraduate supervision, and policy-oriented research to promote sustainable development in Africa. Research Interest
Onyenekwe’s research interest includes a range of Resource and Environmental, Agricultural, and Economic Policy Issues with a focus on natural resources, climate change, pollution, energy issues; Gender and Development; agrifood systems, poverty and food security issues and Rural Development issues.
Mentoring
Dr. Onyenekwe has successfully supervised and graduated 9 undergraduate students and 1 MSc student. She is currently supervising 2 MSc students and 6 PhD students.
