Environment for Development

This unique, comprehensive, and open-access High-Level Research Agenda aims to provide guidance for both donors and research institutions, on how research can support the urgently needed low-carbon transition in the Global South. The research agenda synthesizes a series of papers that cover several research themes in greater detail.

Transition to a low-carbon economy is complex, comprising significant knowledge gaps that need to be filled to achieve a transition that is sustainable and inclusive. Towards this effort, EfD and its partners were commissioned by IDRC to develop this research agenda. It’s been a very comprehensive project to which 60 researchers from top research institutions all over the world have contributed.

This High-Level Research Agenda has identified crucial research gaps and potential research opportunities alongside regional policy priorities in the fields of Gender, Sustainable energy transitions, Infrastructure (transport and digital), Forestry and land use, Enabling policy environments, Mobilizing new climate investment models, and Human and institutional capacity.
