Hadush Meles, Tensay

Tensay Hadush Meles is an Assistant Professor of Environmental Economics and Policy and Programme Director of the MSc in Environmental Policy at University College Dublin (UCD). His research lies at the intersection of energy and environmental economics, behavioral economics, and development economics, with work on electricity tariffs and reliability in developing countries, building energy efficiency, renewable energy adoption, environmental valuation, and economic behavior in hypothetical versus incentivized settings. His research uses randomized controlled trials, panel data, surveys linked to administrative data, machine learning techniques, and insights from behavioral economics. Before taking up his current role at UCD Environmental Policy, Meles held postdoctoral research positions at the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) and UCD School of Economics, and previously worked in the Department of Economics at Mekelle University. He received his PhD in Economics from the University of Gothenburg in 2017 and was trained in the Environment and Development specialization of the PhD program in Economics at the Environmental Economics Unit.
