Kabubo-Mariara, Jane

Prof. Jane Kabubo-Mariara is the current Executive Director of the Partnership for Economic Policy (PEP). She is also a Professor of Economics of the University of Nairobi. She is a member of the German Institute of Global and Area Studies (GIGA) Advisory Board and Interim President of the African Association of Ecological Economists (ASEE). She is the immediate former Director of the School of Economics, University of Nairobi. She has previously served as an acting Deputy Vice-chancellor for Research, Production and Extension at the University of Nairobi. She has also served as a director of the Environment for Development-Kenya; a member of the International Scientific Advisory Board of African Growth and Development Policy (AGRODEP) Modelling Consortium; as a chair of the research committee of the Center for Environmental Economics and Policy in Africa (CEEPA) and a resource person with African Economic Research Consortium (AERC). She has further served as an expert on scenarios and modeling for the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) and as a member of the editorial board of Environment and Development Economics; an associate editor of the African Journal of Agricultural and Resource Economics (AFJARE); and, an associate editor of the African Journal of Social Sciences.

Her key research interests include Poverty, Labour markets and Income distribution issues, with emphasis on multiple dimensions of child poverty and youth employment, the Impact and Adaptations of Climate Change on Agriculture; and Environmental and Natural Resource Economics.
