Sterner comments on Rapport Tirole for the Copenhagen meeting

Professor Thomas Sterner has been asked to comment on the French report, Rapport Tirole, on "International architecture of policy to combat climate change", authored by Professor Jean Tirole for the French Prime Minister. The main stumbling block is the allocation of emissions between rich and poor countries.

The Report, originally titled "L’architecture internationale pour la lutte contre le changement climatique", will be presented by Professor Jean Tirole, one of the most influential economists in the world. After the presentation there will be lectures by Thomas Sterner, Christian Gollier, Philippe Aghion, Henry Tulkens, Jean Pierre Ponssard and Roger Guesnerie.

The day will end with a round table with Tirole, Sterner, Claude Henry and J-P Bouttes concerning what message the economists have for the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen Dec 7 - Dec 18, 2009.

The meeting is arranged by Atelier Chaire Développement Durable, École polytechnique-EDF in collaboration with Toulouse Sciences Économiques. It takes place on Friday Oct 9, 08.00-13.00, in Paris. TFor more information please see Program (in French).
