Starting in February 2026, Alejandro López-Feldman will be heading EfD’s Global Program, which encompasses most of EfD’s Sida-funded operations. Anders Ekbom is currently the Acting Director of the Global Hub unit and also leads the Inclusive Green Economy (IGE) program. A process will start to recruit a new director for the unit.
EfD was established in 2007 and has, since its inception, been led by Gunnar Köhlin, who has had a central role in building and developing the organization into what it is today.
”EfD has grown significantly over the years, and the organization is now entering a new phase that requires a different leadership arrangement. I support this transition and the steps being taken to ensure a continued positive development of the network,” says Gunnar Köhlin.
”I will continue to work at EfD and will now focus my efforts on supporting the EfD Initiative, the best I can.”
Alejandro López-Feldman comes from the position of Director of Research at EfD and has, among other things, contributed significantly to strengthening EfD’s collaborative research programs. He will continue to hold this position, along with leading the Global Program.
“I am grateful for the management team’s trust in me to take on the leadership of the Global Program, says Alejandro López-Feldman.
“This is certainly a big responsibility, and it comes at a challenging time for organizations working with development cooperation, but I am ready and convinced that, with the support of all my colleagues, we, as an organization, will continue to make great contributions to research-based policy-making in the Global South.
