Nearly 500 attended course on panel data econometrics

EfD, in collaboration with the Standing Panel for Impact Assessment (SPIA), conducted a free online Ph.D. panel data econometrics course that attracted almost 500 participants from across all continents.

Yonas Alem, Director of Academic Programs, EfD, delivered the course, which provided in-depth training on advanced panel data econometrics methods widely applied across economics disciplines.

"This highlights the strong global demand for advanced econometric training," says Yonas Alem, who is very happy with the outstanding turnout. Feedback from participants also indicated high satisfaction with both the content and delivery.

The program covered:

  • Linear static and dynamic estimators
  • Non-linear static and dynamic estimators
  • A hands-on lab replicating published results
  • A dedicated session on sources of panel data in the Global South

This initiative is part of EfD’s broader effort to strengthen research capacity in the Global South through a series of online PhD-level courses.

Upcoming courses include:

  • Randomized Control Trials (October 2025)
  • Quasi-Experimental Causal Inference Methods (November–December 2025)

Stay connected through EfD’s and Yonas Alem’s LinkedIn pages if you are interested in attending the upcoming courses.
