MCC hosts side event at COP26

The EfD partner institution Mercator Research Institute on Global Commons and Climate Change (MCC) will host a side event on “The Political Economy of Coal and its Implications for Clean Energy Transitions” at COP26.

Based on a forthcoming book edited by MCC researchers Michael Jakob and Jan C. Steckel collecting 15 country case studies, and together with experts on China, Vietnam, South Africa, and Germany, they will discuss entry points to design politically feasible policies to phase out coal across a variety of contexts and related differences in potential policy approaches.

The book will be published in the Environment for Development book series at Routledge and will be available in early 2022.

The event takes place on Thursday, November 11th, at 11.30 GMT.
