Anthony Amoah has been appointed to the Ghana Water Company Limited's (GWCL) Special Duties Platform, a high-level decision-making body, deepening the ongoing collaboration between EfD and the state-owned utility company. The appointment follows several productive engagements with GWCL management and establishes a regular channel for the researcher and his team to contribute research insights to improve water bill collection and operational efficiency.
As lead researcher for the project "Understanding and Improving Bill Payment in Ghana," Anthony Amoah has engaged actively with GWCL in key meetings on commercial customer arrears. GWCL requested his expertise to develop standard operating procedures for third-party debt collection. This collaboration demonstrates the utility company's commitment to implementing research-driven solutions to improve revenue collection.
"The invitation to join the Special Duties Platform reflects GWCL's recognition of the value of research-based insights in operational decision-making," Anthony Amoah noted.
"This collaboration will allow us to contribute more directly to discussions that shape policy and practice in Ghana's water sector."
The appointment comes as GWCL addresses challenges in revenue collection, particularly among high-usage customers who account for approximately 79% of total debt. Through this enhanced collaboration, Anthony Amoah and the project research team will continue to deepen their understanding of bill payment behaviors while directly contributing to GWCL's strategic initiatives.
