EEPFE participation on the International & Annual Conference on the Ethiopian Economy

The conference was organized by the Ethiopian Economics Association (EEA) on July 19-21, 2012 in Addis Ababa. EEPFE researchers and research associates presented their papers on this conference and also on the First Annual Conference on the Tigray Regional State Economic Development organized in Mekelle on July 14, 2012.

 

About 95 papers were presented on this conference revolving around issues related to agriculture, energy, climate change, poverty, behavioral economics, trade, price dynamics, health issues, children welfare, foreign aid, and other social issues.

 

EEPFE Parallel Session on the Tenth International Conference on the Ethiopian Economy

EEPFE co-organized a parallel session where its researchers, Dr. Alemu Mekonnen, Dr. Abebe Damte, Dr. Tadele Ferede, and Dr. Fantu Guta presented papers. They also chaired parallel sessions on the conference. Dr. Yonas Alem, international associate to EfD Ethiopia, also presented a paper on The Persistence of Subjective Poverty in Urban Ethiopia.

The annual conference served as a good opportunity for EEPFE to introduce the forum to participants and disseminate research outputs and other resources.

On a similar issue, Senior Research Fellow, Dr. Zenebe Gebreegizbaher participated on the First Annual Conference on Tigrai National Regional State Economic Development. This conference was held on July 14, 2012 in Mekelle, Ethiopia as part of the initiative under taken by the Ethiopian Economics Association (EEA) to open its chapters at regional centres in collaboration with the Universities in the different regions. He presented a paper entitled: Sources of Technical Efficiency Differentials among Smallholder Farmers in Tigrai, Northern Ethiopia: Panel Data Evidence and Implications for Food Security.
