Apply to PhD programme in Environmental Economics

The Department of Economics at the University of Gothenburg has a long history of support for PhD candidates from developing countries. The purpose of this Sida-financed PhD programme is to strengthen the capacity in developing countries to teach environmental economics at university level, and to establish a firm basis for research that can be used for policy advice. Deadline for applications is March 3, 2010.

The Sida-financed PhD program in Environmental Economics at the University of Gothenburg is announced on our website >> http://www.hgu.gu.se/item.aspx?id=5635

The Environmental Economics Unit (EEU) at the University of Gothenburg offers four full scholarships in the PhD programme in Environmental Economics with admission September 2010. Due to severe budget constraints by Sida, we will only be able to recruit four (instead of the usual five) PhD candidates. The scholarships are open to applicants from developing countries only. The programme is funded by Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) and its aim is to help build capacity in developing countries. For this reason, we give priority to the building of institutions rather than the education of individuals. The programme  includes one year of general economics courses, one year of specialisation courses and two to three years of data collection and thesis writing.

Please forward this to potential interested parties, institutions and organizations as well as private persons.

For more information and to download the application form please go to the webpage: http://www.hgu.gu.se/item.aspx?id=5635 Deadline is March 3, 2010.
