SETI 2025 Annual Meeting

Dates and location: University of Gothenburg. August 13-16, 2025.

This year’s SETI Annual Meeting marks a significant milestone in the evolution of SETI. The 2025 Annual Meeting will be a four-day event, expanding our format to allow for regional workshops, deeper strategic dialogue, and stronger collaboration across our global network. We aim to make this gathering a vibrant space for co-creation, collective reflection, and policy-relevant research exchange.

The 2025 SETI Workshop is designed around two main objectives:

  1. Shaping the SETI Strategic Plan (2025–2028): We will be laying the groundwork for the next four years of SETI’s work. Informed by extensive consultations—including semi-structured interviews and feedback from EfD researchers—our sessions will focus on priority themes, emerging research needs, and actionable strategies. A core emphasis, in line with Sida’s priorities, will be on aligning with the policy needs of EfD’s African centers, especially in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). At the same time, we will explore pathways for global coordination and engagement with additional funding partners.
  2. Advancing research and policy dialogue: Through a dynamic mix of research presentations and policy discussions, participants will engage with cutting-edge findings and share perspectives on how to shape more inclusive and effective energy transitions around the world.

The program is structured into two core types of sessions:

  1. Working group sessions (August 13, part of August 15, and August 16): These sessions will focus on building and refining long-term research agendas led by SETI fellows. Each group will work toward concrete deliverables, collaborative frameworks, and funding opportunities.
  2. Research and policy sessions (August 14 and 15): These sessions will feature presentations from researchers and lively discussions with policymakers, enabling critical exchange and grounding research in policy realities. You can explore the full program by clicking the Program button on this page.

To ensure a smooth and inclusive workshop, we kindly ask all participants to review:

  1. The Participation Guidelines for presenters, discussants, chairs, and attendees.
  2. The EfD Code of Conduct, which applies to both in-person and virtual participants.

If you have any questions, please contact Cristóbal Vásquez-Quezada (SETI Project Coordinator) at SETI@udec.cl.

We look forward to your active participation and to working together toward more sustainable, inclusive, and impactful energy transitions. Let’s make SETI 2025 a space for new ideas, shared knowledge, and meaningful collaborations.

Sincerely,

The Sustainable Energy Transitions Initiative
