Invitation to a hackathon on digital evidence synthesis tools for climate and health!
DESTINY (Digital Evidence Synthesis Tool Innovation for Yielding Improvements in Climate & Health) is an international research collaboration focused on developing innovative tools and approaches to synthesise rapidly growing evidence on climate change and health. DESTINY is supported by the Wellcome Trust [grant number: 313586/Z/24/Z].
To accelerate this work, we are bringing together a diverse group of researchers, technologists, practitioners, and policy thinkers for a hands-on hackathon, hosted by ASCEND at the University of Cape Town.

👥 Who should attend: People with programming skills, researchers, evidence synthesis specialists, climate and health experts, designers, policy practitioners, students, and anyone interested in improving how evidence is used for climate and health decisions.
💸 Travel funding is available for participants in low- and middle-income countries

This event is designed to be welcoming to both programmers and non-programmer participants. Whether you write code, analyse evidence, design workflows, work in climate or health policy, contribute domain expertise, or simply enjoy collaborative problem-solving, your perspective will be valuable. You can participate in one of our projects or propose your own.
Participants will work in small interdisciplinary teams over the course of the 2-day hackathon to prototype ideas, share knowledge, and build connections across the climate and health evidence community. The hackathon will emphasise collaboration, creativity, and practical experimentation in a welcoming and supportive environment.
