Kateka, Adolphine
Adolphine Kateka is an independent consultant with a PhD in environmental economics and climate change. She is serving as the vice chair of the Institute of Gender, Climate Change, and Agriculture in Africa (GECA) – a regional NGO based in Kampala, Uganda. She has a track record of more than 20 years as a climate change researcher and Senior University Lecturer at Stockholm university Sweden; Mzumbe University, Tanzania and University of Dar es Salaam Tanzania. For five years, Dr Kateka was the senior climate change and sustainable development project coordinator at the Center for Climate Change Studies, University of Dar es Salaam. She has competence in strategy development and in managing large donor-funded projects. Dr Kateka also worked for three years as a senior advisor to the Green Climate Fund (GCF) Board based in Songdo Korea focusing on reviewing international climate finance policies. For three Years she worked as a climate finance expert at the Global Water Partnership South Africa providing training on GCF funding in the water sector in the Southern African Region (SADC). Dr Kateka has worked as a Blue Economy expert with Global Affairs Canada as the analyst of projects and policies related to the Blue Economy in Zanzibar. She is also a consultant and a policy analyst with International Water Management Institute (IWMI), working deeply in the area of policy analysis in the water management, focusing on the water-energy-food (WEF) Nexus. Dr Kateka is on the advisory board of the Tanzania Commission of Science and Technology (COSTEC) and she is the chairperson of the board for the African Leaders Malaria Alliance (ALMA).
