Gedefaw Abate, Tenaw

Dr. Tenaw G. Abate is an environmental economist with expertise in environmental policy evaluation, non-market valuation, and the economics of aquaculture and marine pollution. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Science at Aarhus University and a Research Associate at the Policy Studies Institute in Ethiopia. He holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Economics from the University of Copenhagen and has previously held postdoctoral research positions in Denmark and Norway.

Dr. Abate’s research has been published in leading journals, including the American Journal of Agricultural Economics, Land Economics, Ecological Economics, Scientific Reports, and Journal of Environmental Management. His contributions to the field have been recognized with two Best Paper Awards from the International Association of Aquaculture Economics and Management. His current work spans interdisciplinary research on environmental policy instruments, marine plastic pollution, and the sustainability of aquaculture production.
