Anugwa, Ifeoma

Dr. Ifeoma Quinette Anugwa is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Agricultural Extension, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and a Research Fellow at the Resource and Environmental Policy Research Centre, University of Nigeria Nsukka. She graduated with a First Class Honors in Agricultural Extension. She has a Ph.D. in Agricultural Communication with focus on climate change, food security and gender. She has about fifteen years of teaching and research interests at the intersection of agriculture, nutrition, environment, and sustainable development, with a particular focus on building resilient food systems through inclusive, gender-responsive, and climate-smart approaches. Her work bridges theory, policy, and practice to strengthen the capacities of agricultural stakeholders, educators, and communities to address emerging challenges in food security, digital transformation, and environmental sustainability. She has published widely in reputable international journals and made presentations at numerous international conferences.

 

Research Interests

Ifeoma’s research interests are climate change vulnerability and resilience, environmental policy, environmental economics, food security, food system transformation, gender dynamics in agricultural innovation, sustainable consumption and production, and digital tools for climate-smart agriculture. Her research applies community-based and gender-focused approaches to analyzing and developing innovative strategies for addressing climate change challenges in sustainable food systems.

 

Mentoring (Ph.D. students and Masters)

She has supervised and mentored two Master's students and co-supervised one Ph.D. student. Her academic reputation extends beyond her home institution, as evidenced by her appointment as an external examiner for Master's students at Makerere University, Uganda, and the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, as well as for a Ph.D. student at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. These engagements demonstrate her growing contribution to postgraduate training, mentorship, and quality assurance within the African higher education community.
