Abebe, Meseret

Meseret Abebe is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the School of Economics, University of Cape Town, under the Environment Policy Research Unit (EPRU). He is also an affiliate of the Environment for Development (EfD) Global Hub. 

Meseret received his PhD in Economics through the University of Gothenburg–Addis Ababa University Collaborative PhD program. He received his BA and MSc degrees in Agribusiness Management and Agricultural Economics from Haramaya University in 2004 and 2015, respectively. His research lies at the intersection of Development Economics and Environmental Economics, with a particular focus on the impacts of climate change, agricultural technology adoption, risk, shocks, and gender and labor-market outcomes—his empirical work primarily employs panel-data econometrics and causal inference.

Research Interests

His work focuses on shocks, food & nutrition security, energy poverty, technology adoption, gender and labor-market outcomes.
