Department Description: The School of Economics and Finance (SEF) is one of six schools in the Faculty of Commerce, Law and Management at the University of the Witwatersrand. The school offers an active research environment and is home to the PPS Chair in Health Economics, the mission of which is to conduct cutting-edge research within the domain of health economics with a view to informing policy and practice that will improve the health and well-being of all.

Brief Description: The School invites applications for the position of Researcher. The position is a two (2) year fixed-period contract appointment with a possibility of renewal subject to funding and performance. Requirements: The incumbent, who will work closely with the Chair and will have a good understanding of the wider health sector and health economics landscape in the country, the region and globally, will be expected to:

• Conduct scoping, systematic and other literature reviews

• Conduct advanced statistical and econometric analysis

• Assist with the writing of research reports, briefs and journal papers

• Assist with the writing of research proposals and funding applications

• Coordinate and manage research projects

• Enroll for and complete a PhD qualification (if not in possession of a PhD degree)

     
   
 Job Requirements  

Minimum qualifications: Coursework Master’s degree in Economics. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. A specialization in Health Economics and some experience in health economics research will be considered advantageous. Previous experience in conducting scoping and systematic reviews and practical fieldwork experience in data collection will also be added advantages. A PhD in Health Economics is desirable
