PhD fellowship position at University College Dublin, Ireland

The School of Economics at University College Dublin (Ireland) is offering a PhD fellowship for our PhD Economics programme for students with a specific interest in working in environmental economics, with Dr Marta Talevi as supervisor. More details on the position, the PhD programme and how to apply can be found in the attachment.

The start date for the PhD position would be September 2026 and applications for the fellowship require the material listed below, which must be submitted by January 31, 2026:

  • CV including the contacts of two references. 
  • Cover letter outlining personal research interests and suitability of the Fellowship (1-2 pages). 
  • Research proposal (1-2 pages). Note that the proposal is expected to be aligned with the supervisor’s research agenda and to be carried out in collaboration with the supervisor (Dr Marta Talevi), contributing to co-authored research projects. The candidate is expected to use empirical microeconomics and/or behavioural economics to study topics in environmental and natural resource economics and sustainability. Examples of relevant topics include low-carbon energy transitions, energy access, environmental protection, pollution control, climate change mitigation and adaptation, water and natural resources management and governance, gendered dimensions, distributional concerns and environmental justice, and impact evaluation of policies/programmes/projects related to the above.
