Full-time position Department of Economics of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of Universidad de Concepción, Chile

The Department of Economics of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of Universidad de Concepción (UdeC) opens a call for a full-time position.

Candidates should meet the following requirements:

Degree: Doctor of Economics

Professional experience:

The successful candidate must have demonstrable experience in Economics of Aquatic Resources, Aquaculture and/or Fisheries Economics, supported by high quality and proven productivity in research.

Other requirements:

The candidate must also demonstrate having conducted high-impact research, good writing and speaking skills, strong interest, and relevant experience in research and teaching in the aforementioned fields. In addition, experience in leading work teams and in interdisciplinary work are also assets. An intermediate or advanced level of Spanish is required for teaching. The candidate appointed for the position will be given one year to improve their command of Spanish.

Roles and responsibilities:

The successful candidate is expected to participate in academic activities organized by the Department of Economics, such as involvement in research projects, preparing and submitting papers for publication in high-impact journals, teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Economics, administrative work of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, and activities aimed at promoting the protection of the environment.

In addition, the candidate must collaborate with the Interdisciplinary Center for Aquaculture Research (INCAR) at Universidad de Concepción as the lead researcher in an interdisciplinary research area in Socioeconomic Sustainability. INCAR is a research center belonging to The Fund for the Financing of Research Centers in Priority Areas (FONDAP), financed by the Government of Chile. Academic work and academic duties are assigned by the Head of the Department every six months. The candidate will carry out these activities alongside their work in the INCAR center; additional time is allotted for this purpose. The standard working week consists of 44 hours.
