Jidere, Chika Mike
Dr. Jidere, Chika Mike, is a Fulbright Scholar and a Senior Lecturer at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He holds a PhD in Soil Biochemistry, with research focus on soil remediation/soil health. He has won several grants and award among which include; Fulbright Visiting Scholar at Purdue University, Indiana, United States of America; PhytoScholar Award by International Phytotechnologies Society (IPS) in Italy; Macaulay Development Trust, United Kingdom, PhD Research Grant; Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs Scholarship (MASHAV) to attend an International R & D course on Agriculture and the Environment: Practices and Processes in soil and water management held at The Volcani Center, Tel Aviv, Israel; and United Nations University Scholarship to attend a short term training course on “Land degradation and Management in a Rural Livelihood Context” held at United Nations University Institute for Natural Resources in Africa Accra, Ghana. He has been involved in teaching, research and community service at the University of Nigeria. Dr. Jidere has consulted extensively on issues of environmental impact assessment for some crude oil producing companies in the Niger Delta Region of Nigeria and has been involved in soil remediation studies. He has also been involved in soil studies for Special Programme for Food Security (SPFS) in Nigeria. He is a member of the Soil Science Society of Nigeria (SSSN), and International Union of Soil Science (IUSS).
