Since 2021, the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) has launched an annual Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) Research Award to advance knowledge of the lessons learned, good practices, achievements, emerging issues as well as the outstanding challenges in implementing the WPS agenda, at local, regional, and global levels.
The theme of this year’s WPS Research Award is “Gender, Climate Change and Conflict”. This focus seeks to highlight the gendered impacts of climate change on the safety and security of women and girls and other vulnerable groups such as IDPs, refugees, members of LGBTQ+/LGBTQ2S+ groups and indigenous groups. The award seeks to support research using a feminist and inter-sectional lens, bringing in focus groups experiencing multiple and intersecting forms of discrimination and marginalization.
The deadline for submission is 18 July. IDRC will issue two awards with a value of up to CAD 20,000 each.
