Chishimba, Sydney

Sydney Kabango Chishimba is a PhD candidate in the School of Economics at the University of Cape Town, under the supervision of Prof Edwin Muchapondwa. His research interests focus on areas of energy and natural resources economics, poverty and inequalities, climate change, and forestation in developing countries. He is currently working as a lecturer at Copperbelt University in Zambia.  

 

Research focus

Sydney’s current research focuses on evaluating the impact of household’s access to modern energy in rural areas in developing countries. This forms part of his PhD thesis which is being conducted in Zambia which for over a decade has been implementing rural electrification program with aim of improving household’s welfare and access to modern energy.
