John M. Mutua is currently working with the Energy Regulatory Commision (ERC) of Kenya as a Policy Analyst. Before he was an assistant policy analyst in the Infrastructure and Economic Services Division at the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA). He holds a Master of Arts in Economics and is currently a PhD candidate at the School of Economics, University of Nairobi. His work involves research, policy analysis, and building capacity in Government of Kenya and the private sector on infrastructure and economic services related issues. These include water and sanitation, energy, environment, transport and Information and Communications Technology (ICT). John has vast research experience in the Infrastructure and Economic Services sector in Kenya and the East and Central Africa region. He has excellent skills in econometrics in the analysis of both quantitative and qualitative data sets and posseses computer skills in econometric and research packages such as STATA, Eviews, PcGive, LIMDEP, and SPSS, and in Excel and the Internet. He has also undergone training in integrated assessment and planning at the UNEP, ETB Branch Geneva, Switzerland among others.
He has authored papers in local and international organizations such as Overseas Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Paris, UNEP, Economics and Trade Branch Geneva, KIPPRA, Global Development Network (GDN) and Government of Kenya.
