Michael Bennett is a visiting scholar at Peking University’s School of Environmental Sciences, and an environmental consultant based in China. His current research includes (1) research on the current status of the development of payments and markets for ecosystem services in China, (2) analysis of the impacts and implementation of China’s Sloping Land Conversion Program, the largest payment for ecosystem services program in the developing world, and (3) analysis of the natural resource and distributional impacts of China’s current phase of state forestry sector reforms. His interests include the methodology of stated preference methods, the microeconomics of land-use and land-use change, and the development of the institutions underlying markets for ecosystem services.
