The Environmental and Climate Research Centers (ECRC) based at the Ethiopian Development Research Institute (EDRI) in collaboration with the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) organized 5 days participatory stakeholder mapping workshop from 26 - 30 June 2017 in Wukro city, Ethiopia.
The main aim of the workshop is a stakeholder mapping for the ongoing project entitled Research and Learning for Sustainable Intensification of Smallholder Livestock Value Chains in Burkina Faso, Ethiopia and Tanzania Project. This project is part of the ‘Sustainable Agricultural Intensification Research and Learning in Africa Programme’ (SAIRLA).
The workshop was opened with a welcoming speech by Dr. Dawit Woubshit from ECRC/EDRI and an introduction on livestock system by Dr. Mats Lannerstad.
The first two days of the workshop were dedicated for a training on Environment and livestock (Day 1) and on equitable economics, participatory development of economic indicators (Day 2). The remaining days of the workshop continued with discussions on current and future livestock system, stories of success and indicators of success. The research team also conducted a filed visit to Atsbi site. Different stakeholders, farmers and experts from the region attended the workshop. The objective was to develop a participatory and inclusive process for development of tools that help decision-making in sustainable livestock intensification strategies.
