Research Officer position at the Environmental Policy Research Unit (EPRU) under the Southern Africa Labour & Development Research Unit (SALDRU) at the University of Cape Town, South Africa.
The Environmental Policy Research Unit (EPRU) under the Southern Africa Labour & Development Research Unit (SALDRU) at the University of Cape Town is a research programme established in January 2007 to enhance environmental policy-making in South Africa through rigorous policy training, research and extension in order to attain sustainable development and poverty reduction.
We invite applications for a one-year contract position of Research Officer, for immediate appointment. Development of some aspects of the research towards a PhD is an option that could be explored by interested candidates.
The main responsibilities for this post are (i) to conduct academically rigorous and policy relevant research in the environmental and resources economics area, in conjunction with EPRU research fellows and (ii) to co-author working papers and peer-reviewed publications with EPRU research fellows. Appointment requires: • at least a Master’s degree in Economics with courses in Environmental & Resource Economics • proof of the potential to produce peer-reviewed publications • strong skills in the quantitative analysis of survey and time series data • good writing skills and proficiency in English.
The remuneration is negotiable in the range R160 000 – R210 000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
