- 2010-03-26 EfD Tanzania contributes to national strategy for poverty reduction A sharper and more focused national strategy for growth and poverty reduction for the coming five years – that is the aim of an ongoing rigorous review of Tanzania´s first National Strategy for Growth and Reduction of Poverty (NSGRP). EfD researcher John Ked Mduma is a technical advisor to the review process under the Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, and EfD Coordinator Dr. Razack Lokina provides research studies, commissioned by the Government, to fill certain information gaps.
- 2009-07-06 EfD researchers comments on fuel subsidies in Ghana "If you really care about poverty you should subsidise the things the poor need the most - and that is surely not petrol", says Professor Thomas Sterner commenting the current policy debate on fuel subsidies in Ghana, in the newspaper Ghana´s Business and Financial Times. The comment builds on research in a number of different countries conducted by Professor Thomas Sterner to which Dr Robinson and Dr Akpalu are contributing. The research will result in a book.
- 2009-07-01 EfD research fellow appointed head of Economics Department Adolf F. Mkenda is a senior Lecturer in the Economics at the University of Dar es Salaam and a research fellow of EfD Tanzania.
- 2009-05-25 Mduma technical advisor in MKUKUTA review Dr John Ked Mduma, EfD research fellow in Tanzania is currently a technical advisor to NSGRP, National Strategy for Growth and Reduction of Poverty review process under the Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs.
- 2009-03-24 EfD members attended the WB conference "Land Governance in Support of the MDGs" EfD members from six countries participated in the conference "Land Governance in Support of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs): Responding to new challenges", held in Washington DC, March 9-10, 2009. Presentations were held by Jintao Xu, EfD in China, Tekie Alemu, EfD in Ethiopia, and Stein Holden, EfD Associate. John Mduma represented EfD Tanzania. Wilfred Nyangena represented EfD in Kenya, and Gunnar Köhlin, EfD Director, participated as chair and discussant.
- 2009-03-13 EfD researcher comments on Tanzania´s fisheries governance in This day Dr Lokina coordinator of EfD in Tanzania was interviewed by the daily paper This day, to comment on the strategies on strengthen fisheries governance and legal frameworks to eliminate illegal, unregulated and unreported fishing in the sub regional states of the Indian Ocean.
- 2009-02-27 Climate change policy research in Tanzania Mark Purdon of the University of Toronto (Canada) carried -out research in collaboration at EfD Tanzania on climate change policy. The subject is the performance of existing projects under the Kyoto Protocol’s carbon offset system Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) operating in Tanzania and their contribution to sustainable regional development, with a focus on land governance.
- 2009-02-24 EfD research helps villagers save Tanzania’s forests The Deputy Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Ezekiel Maige, recently underscored the need for people living around forest reserves to be empowered with forest management skills. Researchers at Environment for Development Tanzania (EfDT), an initiative based at the Department of Economics at the University of Dar es Salaam, have identified a number of critical areas that will help both to protect Tanzania’s forests and the livelihoods of those villagers living close to the forests.

- 2008-12-15 Determinants of Successful Participatory Forest Management in Tanzania - Policy Brief On Wednesday 10th December 2008, Environment for Development Tanzania held a policy workshop in Dar es Salaam to discuss with key stakeholders the findings from their recently completed research project that addresses the determinants of successful participatory forest management in Tanzania.
- 2008-12-11 Greaker visited the University of Dar es Salaam Associate Professor Mads Greaker visited University of Dar es Salaam and EfD in Tanzania December 8-18. He was collaborating with Associate Professor Håkan Eggert, EfD Tanzania, in a study of biofuels with emphasis on trading aspects.
- 2008-12-02 PhD and MA students supported by EfD Tanzania EfD Tanzania supports PhD and MA students in the Department of Economics who are doing research on environmental economics. Three MA students and one PhD will graduate on 6th December 2008.

UNDP through Ministry of finance and economic affairs (MOFEA) – Poverty eradication Division (PED) commissioned Department of Economics, University of Dar Es Salaam assignment on Research, Training and studies of policy Relevancy to government and UNDP.
- 2008-11-03 "Overfishing depletes 'sangara' in Lake Victoria" The Tanzanian newspaper Daily News, one of the biggest English newspapers in the country, interviewed Razack Lokina, fellow reseacher and coordinator of the EfD center in Tanzania, and Hakan Eggert, resident advisor and fellow researcher of the EfD center in Tanzania, on over fishing of Nile perch in Lake Victoria.

Tanzania is poor but possesses great potential, and is now experiencing rapid change. - 2008-01-29 EfD Tanzania Launching Ceremony The Environment for Development Tanzania (EfDT) was inaugurated in Tanzania on January 28. EfD Tanzania is working towards creating a forum where academics, policy makers, and other stakeholders set the research agenda together to address critical environmental and poverty issues.
- 2008-01-28 Håkan Eggert to EfD Tanzania Håkan Eggert, Research Fellow from EfD Sweden, will work as Resident Advisor at EfD Tanzania during 2008/2009. He will participate in the inauguration of the Tanzanian EfD Center on January 28.
