The EfD center in Tanzania is established at the Department of Economics in the Collage of Arts and Social Sciences (which were formally known as Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences) at the University of Dar es Salaam.

Research/Academic environment
University of Dar es Salaam is the oldest and biggest public university in Tanzania. It is situated on the western side of the city of Dar es Salaam, occupying 1,625 acres on the observation hill, 13 kilometers from the city centre. It was established on 1st July 1970. Prior to 1970, the university College of Dar es Salaam had started on 1st July 1961 as an affiliate college of the University of London. The Department of Economics offers degrees for undergraduates and postgraduate degrees progammes at M.A and PhD by coursework and dissertation.
Department of Economics has been forefront in environment management and poverty alleviation strategies through research on issues related to environmental economics and poverty. The Department also offers policy advice and training to government officials, NGOs etc.
Experience in collaboration
The department has been collaborating with various international and local institutions in conducting researches, analyzing data, review of programmes, policy making and dissemination of information to different stakeholders.
Accomodation
The University has Research Flats with ambient environment and good security where researches can be accommodated. Guests have access to a kitchen and common room with TV. Meals are provided on request.The flats are situated at the campus and are at walking distance from the Department.
In the near future Mlimani city complex, an investment area which is proximity to the University of Dar es Salaam, will open a convenient place to reside, the houses are in the final touches. The Mlimani city complexes has supermarkets, post office, internet cafes and variety of local fast food and more upmarket restaurants makes this place both convenient and trendy. There is a commuter busses called daladala connecting the university with other areas.
Office devices
EfD in Tanzania office is equipped with some important material which may facilitate the research work. Among others, the office has computers with internet connection, printer, binding services and digital camera. There is a projector and screen for presentations and other office stationeries are also available.
Data management and analysis capacity
The IT in the department is equipped with STATA, SPSS, EXCEL and other software that are necessary for the research
