EfD in Tanzania
The EfD in Tanzania is working to expand the capacity of the University of Dar es Salaam to support the national effort in natural resource management and environmental protection. This includes training Masters and PhD students with the support of African Economic Research Consortium (AERC) programs, and involving some of these students in EfD projects.
Members of the center are building links with government departments and agencies responsible for environmental management and poverty issues.
The EfD in Tanzania is located within the Department of Economics at the University of Dar es Salaam, the largest and oldest university in the country. The Department of Economics is one of the leading economics departments in the region, with a number of members of staff trained in environmental economics at the PhD level.
