Visitors’ facilities
The Environmental Economics Policy Forum for Ethiopia (EEPFE) is one of the centers under the Environment and Development (EfD) initiative financed by Sida. EEPFE strives to support poverty alleviation and sustainable development through increased use of environmental economics through research, policy advice and training. EEPFE has links to the Department of Economics of the Addis Ababa University and most of its research fellows teach there. EEPFE has become the center one should go to for research on natural resource and environmental economics in Ethiopia. EEPFE is based at the Ethiopian Development Research Institute (EDRI) in Addis Ababa.
Research/Academic environment
EEPFE welcomes researchers who would like to do collaborative research on issues of the environment and natural resources. Its main research areas include sustainable land management practices, land certification, land markets and investment, forestry and energy, safety nets and farmers’ investment, poverty and the environment, risk and climate change. Seminars are organized and visiting researchers are encouraged to make presentations at seminars. Research fellows are involved in MSc thesis supervision as well as teaching of courses including MSc courses in environmental and natural resource economics.
Data management and analysis capacity
Statistical softwares that are used at EEPFE include STATA and SPSS. Researchers are supported by a data manager and a junior research fellow. Internet access Researchers have access to the internet. Visitors EEPFE has hosted a number of visiting researchers from different countries since its establishment in 2004. 2009 In 2009 EEPFE had the following visiting researchers: Prof. Erwin Bulte, Wageningen University and Tilburg University Dr. Salvatore di Falco, London School of Economics
